Union MoS for Communications and Rural Development Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani meets Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur, July 27, 2025 – Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at the CM’s residence in Raipur today. The meeting saw detailed discussions on rural development, coordinated implementation of Central and State government schemes, strengthening communication infrastructure in tribal regions, and the progress of development initiatives in Maoist-affected areas.

Chief Minister Shri Sai briefed the Union Minister about the state government’s efforts to bring Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s development-oriented vision to the grassroots. He shared that in the very first cabinet meeting of the new government, approval was granted for the construction of 18 lakh pucca houses, fulfilling the dream of home ownership for the state’s poor families. The CM also informed that 1,460 gram panchayats now have operational Atal Digital Seva Kendras, significantly improving access to banking services in rural areas.

Highlighting women’s empowerment, CM Sai spoke about the government’s initiatives promoting skill development and innovation. He stated that women’s self-help groups in rural areas are setting new benchmarks in self-reliance through their enterprising work.

Union MoS Dr. Pemmasani, during the meeting, shared details of his recent visits to Narayanpur and Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki districts. He expressed satisfaction with the effective implementation of Central government schemes in these regions and noted the tangible benefits being experienced by local communities. Appreciating the rapid positive transformation in Maoist-affected regions, Dr. Pemmasani called it a strong indicator of a brighter future for Chhattisgarh.

Referring to the exhibition organized under the ‘BIHAN’ scheme, the Union Minister lauded the quality of bell metal crafts, millets, and household products made by women from SHGs (Self-Help Groups). He mentioned that many of these women are now earning between ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 per month, which marks a significant step toward financial independence in rural India.

Dr. Pemmasani also fondly recalled the traditional tribal welcome he received during his visit and shared his unforgettable experience of deeply connecting with their vibrant culture. He made special mention of his visit to the Divyang Residential School, describing his interaction with the children there as an emotional and heartfelt moment. He commended the government’s efforts toward supporting children with disabilities.
